Have you recently asked yourself the question; Does your marriage really matter to your children?

When considering divorce and how to lessen the impact it will have on the children, most parents will consider everything from good schools, safe neighborhoods, health care, material assets, good relationship between the divorced parents and nutrition long before they even think of Marriage Counseling in an attempt to keep the marriage together. According to research, marriage matters tremendously to your children!

There was a time when Counselling and Therapy was frowned upon or at least people would do everything in their power to hide the fact that they were going to Counselling. Thank goodness in today’s modern world the idea of seeking Marriage Counselling is not taboo anymore.

However, along with the good changes of modern society comes the bad changes. Unfortunately in the modern society we live in, marriage does not seem to rate as high as it used to. This is where the Top Tip comes in. Maybe we should re-thing marriage!

According to research, children raised by their married parents fair better than their peers who are raised by single parents, parents cohabiting or by step-parents. This is even a bigger issue than race, educational status and neighborhoods.

Research also shows that children raised in a loving, caring and stable home environment with both biological parents are much more likely to join a sports club or take part in other extra mural activities rather than join a gang. When the police or other groups working with troubled youth where questioned on this issue, the verdict was that the largest proportion of young offenders were from homes where their biological father was absent.

This does not necessarily mean that all children raised without a dad will end up in trouble, and it certainly does not mean that every child raised in a loving home by both biological parents will turn out to be little angels either.

But consider this; if the probability of those children raised without their natural father or mother increases the risk of your children seeking attention in the wrong places, I say Marriage Counseling is worth every second of your time and every penny spent and I certainly would not give a damn about what the neighbors might think.

If your marriage is in trouble and you have children that may be affected, do whatever it takes to save it.

Its your call!
