Confused about the goodness of coffee?….
July 31, 2006 on 5:42 am | In Main, Cellulite | No CommentsMe too, so I did a little digging and this is the most sensible solution I have come up with: Drinking 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day is just fine in terms of health. In fact you should also gain some benefits from consuming coffee in moderation. Firstly it is a fact that coffee stimulates the central nervous system and that is why you wake up after a cup of coffee. Secondly, coffee contains antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body.
Recent research has shown that just 2 cups a day can promote heart health, reduce leg pain associated with exercise and may play a role in decreasing the risk of type two diabetes (U.S. Department of Agriculture). The research also shows that it is possible that coffee can actually protect against diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
The other positive about coffee is that it has almost no kilojoules, that is, without the milk (cream) and sugar. If you want to indulge without the bulge, drop the sugar and milk/cream.
There has also been two studies showing that caffeine is beneficial for the reduction of cellulite and you will find caffeine in many anti-cellulite creams on the market today. I must say that I have read somewhere though that consuming tons of caffeine can actually increase cellulite, so I am a little lost on this one. I guess that using it topically helps cellulite and drinking too much of it can increase cellulite. I am not sure of these facts though.
The one downside to coffee I have just discovered, is that it can be a gut irritant for some people. My poor hubby suffers from indigestion and now I am sure it has something to do with coffee. He drinks far too much of it.
So, the verdict is; as long as you stick to the usual good advice of ‘everything in moderation’, coffee seems to be a safe morning wake up beverage.

Getting rid of Cellulite
May 18, 2006 on 1:40 am | In Main, Cellulite | No CommentsI have had a problem with my right knee for about two years now but it is not that serious. Basically it creeks like crazy whenever I use it so I went to the GP who referred me to a physio therapist who told me that the muscle on the outside of my leg was very knotted up and needed to be massaged to release it. It is the muscle that is pulling my knee cap sideways which means that my knee cap is running off track and scraping the bone underneath. Yuk - its sounds gross when I describe it.
Anyway why I am telling you this is because my gum instructor has a little hand made tool that I have to use to massage this muscle to release it. The bad news for me is that it is incredibly painful because my entire body weight is placed on the side of my leg which lies on a thin pole. I have to role my body up and down this pole which has the same effect as a massage - only worse because there is no pressure release. The good news is that it will also help with my Cellulite because I have to role over my Cellulite as well.
Getting Rid of Cellulite makes me more motivated to sort out my knee problem. If there was an easier way I would do it because believe me the massage option is incredibly painful simply because my muscle is so tight. If you want to try it some time the pole is easy to make. You can use a strong metal pole (about a meter long will do) on its own or you can cover it with a thin sponge (wrap it around the pole and tape it down). To use; lie on the pole sideways using your arm to hold your upper body off the floor. Your legs will be on top of one another. Start rolling down the pole from the hip and slowly move yourself so that your leg is rolling towards the knee and back again. Your body weight will do the deep massaging for you. If you find it too painful, take the top leg, bend it and place it on the floor so that there is less weight on your bottom leg.

Cellulite - Can detoxing work?
May 15, 2006 on 1:49 am | In Main, Cellulite | No CommentsSome people claim that Detoxing can get rid of Cellulite. I am not convinced about the impact it has on Cellulite Reduction but what detoxing can do is improve your overall well being.
Most of the benefits people feel from detoxing are due largely to the change in diet rather than the lose of excessive toxins. When you detox you increase your water, fruit and vegetable consumption. As a result your body is better hydrated and your skin looks and feels great because you are eating more antioxidants in the form of fruit and vegetable.
Detoxing in my opinion is not a bad thing but do be careful because detoxing can be dangerous for teenagers or pregnant women. Our advice is to detox sensibly by making sure you still have a varied diet which provides you with all the required nutrients and that you eat enough.
Any good sensible healthy diet will be good for Cellulite reduction, especially drinking loads of water. PinkFridge has good information on Cellulite Products. I also found this site cellulite-treatment-reviews, showing the findings of recent research and reviews of various Cellulite treatments.
