Acne awareness

My 14 year old has started developing a lot of pimples.  I think it is the start of Acne. It is on his face, chest and upper back.  I keep telling him to wash his face morning and night with a cleanser I bought for him but he gets lazy and only does it sometimes.  When he does use the cleanser, I can tell almost immediately.  He seems to think I am talking trough my nose about cleansing twice a day, but it does surprise him when I can tell that he has been cleansing properly.

To try and help him without being too much of a painful nagging mother, I showed him pictures of people who have suffered from Sever Acne and pictures of the Scars left behind by untreated Acne.  I did this in the hope that he would be a little less lazy.  I think it has worked because his skin is looking good for the moment.  If you have a teenager with the same issues, maybe a few pictures will do the trick.

TOP TIP:  Now I know getting rid of acne is important and there are lots of really good Acne treatments on the market but sometimes our skin condition is under control with the exception of one or two little stubborn pimples popping up a few days before a big event. I have an interesting solution that may seem strange to most normal people, but if you are desperate and in a hurry, try my suggestion.  It is worth knowing about.

When you see the early appearance of a spot on your skin, place some toothpaste on the spot.  It works like magic.  I use it at night so that while I am asleep, the toothpaste can go to work and no one can see my face blotted with white stuff.  All it really does is to dry out the spot and it sometimes takes just one night but mostly two nights yields good results.  Just make sure that you only put it on the spot itself because it will dry out any area you put it on.

I would obviously not recommend this as a treatment or Home Remedy for someone suffering from serious or even mild acne though.  For information on cures and different treatments take a look at Pink Fridge.  We have a section on Acne and it covers a wide range of things like: Cause of Acne, Basic skin care and Solutions.

How about some feedback from you on the topic?
