Getting to Bruges from Brussels airport
On arrival at Brussels airport you can take a train to Gare du Nord, Gare Central or Gare du Midi. Trains leave every 20 minutes and the journey takes about 20 minutes depending on which station you go to. Once in the centre of Brussels you can then get a connecting train to Bruges from any of these stations. Trains leave approximately every 30 minutes and the journey takes about one hour on an intercity train. Local trains (which stop at a number of stations) are typically much slower. You can also get to the centre of Brussels by taxi or bus or you can hire a car on arrival at the airport. A taxi to the centre of Brussels can cost up to € 35. However, if you look for a taxi with an orange and white aeroplane sticker in the top, right-hand corner of the windscreen, you will get a 25% reduction on the usual taxi rate.
The airport at Zaventem is on five levels. Arrivals are on level 2, trains leave from level 1 and buses and taxis leave from level 0. Level 4 is for departures and the top level is devoted to shops, bars and restaurants.
