Book online for a Prague City Break - UK - USA
With a population of just 1.3 million Prague is one of Europe's smallest capital cities, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that it's served by a single airport. Ruzyne airport (just 15km north-west of the city centre) acts as the sole international aviation hub for the Czech Republic ; so things can get busy. The good news is that flights to Prague have recently got considerably more comfortable thanks to an ongoing airport expansion program.
Once your flight has arrived in Prague getting transport into the city centre is a piece of cake. The best option, especially for travelers with baggage, is to catch the Cedaz minibus service. Buses make the 30 minute trip to the central námestí Republiky metro station every half hour. Alternatively you can jump off beforehand at Dejvická station. Tickets cost 90 Kc and the service operates form 5.30am-9.30pm. If you're traveling in a group it's possible to organize a Cedaz minibus to take you directly to your hotel, but you'll have to work out the sums involved first (however, the chances are that it will be cheaper than taking a taxi).
If your flight arrives late (or you are traveling on a budget) there are a number of municipal buses which run into the small hours. Bus no.119 operates until midnight and links Ruzyne airport with Dejvická station (where you can then catch the metro). Tickets are transferable and cost 15 Kc.
Taxis are another option, although Prague's cabbies aren't known for their honesty. Make sure that you establish the total fare before you set off and don't be afraid to ask the driver to confirm the figure in writing.
