Book online for Paris Hotels - UK - USA
Paris has some of the best hotels in the world, and also some of the most expensive. However, the good news is that: while luxury comes with a hefty price tag - the City of Light's impressive collection of mid-range and budget hotels needn't break the bank.
At the top end of the market the global glitterati make a beeline for the Hôtel de Crillon on place de la Concorde, which can count Douglas Fairbanks and Tom Cruise as past guests. Boasting sumptuary and opulence in equal measures the Hôtel Ritz on place Vendôme has seen a constant procession of luminaries passing through its' revolving doors since it first opened in 1898. For the quintessential Left Bank Parisian experience it's impossible to beat L'Hotel. Recently redecorated by designer-to-the-stars Jacques Garcia, L'Hotel is famed as the place where Oscar Wilde uttered his last words while gazing at the wallpaper "One of us will have to go".
For a mid range, two star, hotel expect to pay somewhere in the region of € 140 a night. It's worth asking for a discount if you're planning on staying for a few nights or are traveling off season. Regular critics' favorites include: the sleek art deco lines of Hôtel de Banville on boulevard Berthier, the elegant ambience of Hôtel Le Lavoisier on rue Lavoisier and the intimate charm of H ô tel du Bois on rue du Dome.
Paris has plenty of budget accommodation options (including hostels, campsites and even staying in student digs during the summer months), but if you're able to scrape together a few extra euros 24 hours at one of the following will make for a memorable break: Hôtel de Nesle on rue de Nesle (eclectic eccentricity at its best), Hôtel Langlois on rue Saint-Lazare (well-appointed, comfortable rooms with a view) and Hôtel Du Septième Art on rue Saint-Paul (which doubles as a homage to the silver screen).
If €70 a night is beyond your financial reach the best bet is to book a bed in one of the French Youth Hostel Association's Auberges de Jeunesse, which shouldn't cost more than € 20. Dormitory beds in non-affiliated hostels are cheaper, but standards tens to slide.
