If you're hoping to book a cheap seat the Internet is the best starting point as reduced overheads mean the national carriers are able to sell scheduled tickets at substantially lower prices. The web is also prime hunting ground for anyone trying to track down a last-minute flight or take advantage of bargain 'no-frills' airfares. People travelling from London to Paris may want to consider taking the Eurostar train, as it's both quick and runs directly from city centre to city centre.
Paris ' international transport hub is Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, 25km north of the city. There are a number of different ways of getting from the airport into central Paris, but the quickest and most convenient is the Roissyrail express which runs every 15 minutes to the Gare du Nord (cost: €7.50, journey time: 30 minutes). The suburban RER train follows a similar route, although it's slower and cheaper.
There are plenty of four-wheeled alternatives (including the aptly named Roissybus), but traffic can make the going slow; especially during rush hour. Perhaps the best of the bunch is the Shuttle which is a semi-private minibus that drops you at your destination and you'll still get change from a €20 note. Shuttles need to be booked in advance and can be paid for with a credit card. If you plan to travel by taxi expect on spending between €30-50.
Paris ' second airport is 16km south of the city in Orly, and again transport links into central Paris abound. To catch the RER suburban train you'll first need to get to Antony station on the purpose built Orlyval (combined ticket cost: €8.80, total journey time: 30 minutes, frequency: every 4-8 minutes). There are a number of bus services (including: an Air France coach, the Orlybus and Jetbus) which weigh in between €5.15-7.50. Shuttle minibuses are also available if booked in advance for just under €17, while a Parisian cab will set you back anywhere up to €30.
