Titanium Wedding Rings - Light, yet Strong Wedding Bands

Titanium wedding rings are a popular alternative to the traditional gold or platinum wedding bands. There are many reasons for this, including its lightness, durability and stability. Titanium is also relatively cheap.

Titanium is light which is good for people who are not used to wearing jewelry and may prefer a ring they can't feel. It is a durable material which is resistant to corrosion and is hypoallergenic which would suit those who normally have problems with being allergic to jewelry. It doesn't react to heat or salt water. One downside is that it can not be resized. Titanium wedding rings are much cheaper than gold or platinum wedding rings. Both gold and platinum wedding rings are much heavier than titanium and therefore may be less comfortable.

Titanium is a slightly darker color than silver or platinum: more of a dark gray than silver. It tends to be used for men's wedding rings particularly because it is light-weight and durable so can be worn all the time without being noticed. Because of the darker color titanium wedding rings are usually a solid metal band without gemstones, although sometimes you can buy two-tone titanium and gold wedding rings which look quite striking. Two-tone wedding rings may have a one half in one color, and the other half in the second color with a wavy join, or they may be a band in one metal with the a smaller band of the second metal inlaid on the outside of the ring. Titanium and gold are an unusual and striking combination. Platinum and titanium also look good together, with the lighter silver of platinum against the darker color of titanium.

Titanium rings can be made into different designs, with patterned shapes cut out of the wedding band, with the metal twisted into rope or other patterns. Titanium can also be engraved giving the couple the option of having a personalized message engraved on the inside of the ring. Because titanium is so hard - it is used in the aircraft industry - is unlikely to lose any detailing in patterns or engravings over time. A titanium wedding ring will last a lifetime, making it suitable for celebrating a couple's union in marriage.

Titanium can be treated to give it different colors which won't fade. The treatment, produced through oxidization, goes deep into the metal rather than merely coating the surface. A black titanium wedding ring with a thin inlaid white-gold band looks stunning. Be careful not to use abrasive cleaners or materials on colored titanium as these will wear away the colored effect.
