Queen Elizabeth I was a big fan of silk stockings. If you accidentally put your finger through the leg while you’re trying to get them off you will be kicking yourself the next day – although fortunately silk is strong so this is much less likely than it would be with an ordinary pair. You can buy a pair of hosiery gloves from Belle for about £6 to avoid disaster when putting on or removing your stockings. Speaking of alcohol, there’s a cocktail called a silk stockings – it’s made of tequila, crème de cacao, grenadine, single cream and cinnamon.
