Roxy, the baby sister brand of surf giant Quiksilver, has been producing a sports-inspired swimsuit and surf wear range for girls since its inception in 1990. Primarily a swimwear line, Huntington Beach, California-based Roxy has expanded to create street clothes, snow sports gear and accessories.

Roxy’s major innovation in the early 90’s was the production of boardshorts created especially for women. Their signature boardshort was introduced in 1993 and inspired by the brand’s big brother line, Quiksilver, who have been producing boardies for surfers since 1970.

Roxy’s surf wear were the perfect solution for girls who had been buying men’s boardies in small sizes, needing the flexibility and fit that male surfers had with a feminine twist.
