Can I get specialist reading sunglasses?

So picture it – you are going on holiday to an island in the sun. You have no intention of doing anything more strenuous than getting out of bed in the morning, getting dressed, eating breakfast then going down to the beach and lying on a sun-lounger reading a good book. But there can be a problem with this. The sunlight is far too bright for you to be able to use your normal glasses for reading, so you need to wear sunglasses.

But the sunglasses do not have the correctional properties of your normal eyeglasses so you are not able to read your books properly. This is a very important issue, as many people actually plan to read as many books as they can on holiday as if they have booked the right holiday they should have time to relax and do so, and in their normal life they rarely have the opportunity to read books.

It’s very important that you have the right sunglasses, as if you try to read without them or play chess without them you might be able to focus properly for a while, but the effort you would have to make would be such that you could actually cause yourself a lot of damage. So you need to have something that allows you to perform these tasks when there is a lot of glare from the sun.

Some people use clip on lenses in this situation, but there can be a problem with these as firstly you have to find them when you need them, which can be a real hassle sometimes. Also, clip on sunglasses can look a little bit unwieldy when you are wearing them, and quite frankly they don’t look “cool” when you wear them, so reading sunglasses are the way to go.

Reading sunglasses come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. After all, you really just need the lenses to fit your prescription, the rest of the glasses don’t really matter.
