What is the history of Maui Jim Sunglasses?

However, soon their products and technology came to the attention of Hester Enterprises. In 1991 they bought the company and then asked RLI Vision Corporation, located in Peoria in Illinois to be the mainland distributor for Maui Jim Sunglasses into the ophthalmic market.

Eventually, Maui Jim sunglasses did the sensible thing and actually bought RLI Vision in December 1996, providing both the capital and the infrastructure to be able to accommodate the phenomenal growth in sales of Maui Jim sunglasses in the premium sunwear business. There are now more than 50 styles and over 100 SKUs, and Maui Jim, Inc. is a very fast growing polarised sunglass maker.
