Matrix sunglasses are not a designer brand, but a representation of the sunglasses that were worn in the now famous film trilogy called “The Matrix”. One of the most clear memories of those who watched the Matrix is the clothes that the characters wore and in particular the sunglasses they wore. Thomas Anderson was a computer hacker living a relatively ordinary life until Morpheus contacts him and leads him to the real world, 200 years later. Artificial intelligence machines ruled the world and were keeping human slaves happy by creating a false version of the 20th century – called the “Matrix”. Anderson is hailed as “The One” (called Neo) will help humans to overthrow the machines so that the Earth can be reclaimed – and he is being chased by “Agents” who are trying to stop him.

In Matrix Reloaded, the sequel, the revolution is doing well, with more minds being freed from the matrix. The machines are gathering an army to fight back, and Neo and Morpheus wait for contact from the Oracle to tell them how this disaster can be prevented. Agent Smith has returned as a computer virus to carry on chasing down Neo. Neo has to battle freakish “exiles” and upgraded agents and other evil masterminds in order to reach the Source – where Neo learns something about the Matrix that shakes his foundations.

In Matrix Revolutions – the final film of the Trilogy – Neo is trapped between the Matrix and the real world. He is being rescued by Morpheus, Trinity and Seraph at the same time as the Machines near Zion ready to lay waste to every human being there. However, Agent Smith aims to simply destroy everything and he is the real enemy. So Neo has to venture into the centre of the Matrix in order to end Smith’s evil plans for ever. Should he succeed then Zion could live for another day and more.

Most companies that claim to sell Matrix sunglasses will sell them in about five different styles. There would be sunglasses as worn by the characters Morpheus, Neo, Trinity, Neo and Seraph and maybe Agent Smith as well. You should make sure that the sunglasses are actually real though – looking for shatterproof and scratch resistant lenses – perhaps made of polycarbonate as well as full UVA and UVB protection. Anyone who claims that they are the actual sunglasses worn in the film is probably lying, but you can certainly get the same style.
