What is the history behind Gucci Sunglasses?
Mens and Womens Gucci Sunglasses: Website – Gucci Sunglasses
Gucci sunglasses can be traced back to 1906 when the 25 year-old son of a craftsman Guccio Gucci founded a saddelry shop in Florence and named it the House of Gucci. The first talent that Guccio had was a craftsmanship in leather goods. During the 1920s Gucci sold leather bags to horsemen and moved on to luxury luggage items once his main clients moved on from equine transportation to cars and other horseless carriages. The first retail shop was opened in 1938 on Rome’s Via Condotti.

The first leather bag complete with bamboo handle, which is the immediately recognizable icon of Gucci, was created in 1947. The red striped webbing, another trademark, was introduced during the 1950s.
Other classics were created during the early 1950s by Guccio Gucci – such as ties, shoes, luggage and of course the famous handbags with bamboo handles. Unfortunately, Gucci died in 1953, but his family was able to carry on his legacy by growing the company abroad, opening shops in Beverley Hills, London, Tokyo, Paris and Palm Beach.
Increased fame came to the Gucci Empire in the 1960s when Hollywood stars like Peter Sellers, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn helped to often put the name Gucci into the same sentence as “chic”. Jackie Kennedy Onassis helped the company out by often being photographed with a Gucci shoulder bag, after which the bag became known better as the “Jackie O”. Furthermore, the company adopted the “GG” logo during this time.
However, despite seeing this success in the 1960s, the fame and recognition that the brand name was getting led to some real turmoil. Even though the goods produced by Gucci were widely considered as a status symbol at that time, the inner family and the management appeared to disagree. The ailing business was taken over by Maurizio Gucci from his founding brother who then sold it on to Arab buyers in the early 1980s.
Tom Ford took over as the newest executive head of Gucci in the 1990s and worked hard to bring the brand back to chic’s centre. He commands a very varied product line which includes leather fashions, colognes, perfumes, cosmetics, shoes (including the famous moccasin), suitcases, watches, silk scarves, the “Flora” foulard that had been created by Rodolfo Gucci for Grace Kelly, sports articles, the famous GG initialled belt clasps, ties and of course Gucci sunglasses.
