One day, a group of quite hard-core fisherman decided that they wanted to make it easier to see what’s out there. Being out on the water offshore affords many fantastic views, but in order to truly enjoy them both for personal and job reasons the fishermen wanted to get a better pair of sunglasses. They wanted a pair of sunglasses that could conquer glare and could deal with the massive amount of UV light that you get when you are out on the open sea. But it’s not just about blocking sunlight, the fishermen needed to also be able to spot fish under the surface for them to catch. This combination of performance factors simply didn’t exist. So in 1983, Costa Del Mar sunglasses came into being.
These sunglasses are still being made by the same enthusiasts, offering the serious water enthusiast high-performance, UV-blocking, glare-reducing eyewear that is capable of standing up to Mother Nature at her most vitriolic. Fishing is a battle between man and fish, and Costa Del Mar believe that their polarized lenses give fisherman an advantage against fish that borders on the unfair. This makes these sunglasses the true choice of the discerning fisherman.
There are some people in the world who get to experience the idyllic life of someone who lives and works on the water. They get to spend their waking hours fishing, playing on beaches and exploring uncharted waters in some of the most beautiful and remote places in the world. In the last 20 years Costa Del Mar have delivered new designs, new technologies and basically new ways for people to see what is out there more clearly, without the battle against glare being such a problem and with far more durability and comfort that can usually be achieved along with such performance levels.
It was at the Surf Show in Orlando in 1983 that Costa Del Mar sunglasses were introduced to the world. Having created them, the company then has not stopped trying to make things better. Making better designs, finding a better way to do things, and getting a better feel and a better look for the sunglasses. By being obsessed with looking for something better, the company have consistently made the technological breakthroughs that are needed to keep the sunglasses as the choice for their target market. The idea is for Costa sunglass wearers to be able to see what’s out there whilst fulfilling a passion for adventure on the water. So no technology is there without reason and all of the designs and processes that exist aim to produce the same result.
With headquarters in Ormond Beach Florida, Costa Del mar produce over 30 styles and 16 lens options, with all products guaranteed for life.
