What types of sunglasses cases are there?

Sunglasses cases serve the same purpose as a record sleeve, compact disk cover, wardrobe, and any other box or cover that you put on objects and items that you own. You need to be able to protect your investments so that their performance is unhindered, and also so that they do not get damaged.

The problem with sunglasses is that even a tiny defect can almost fatally affect their performance. For instance, if the lens is even slightly cracked in any place, then the damaging light and ultra violet rays will almost “gather” at the crack and try to get through, leaving you with a great deal less protection. In fact, should you get a crack in your lens, then you should very quickly either get them fixed, or get a new lens, or even throw them away and start again with new sunglasses. Even a scratch in your lens isn’t good for your sunglasses, it means they don’t look as good and also that their performance may be affected.

As for the frames, if the hinges break or the temples fracture then the glasses will not sit properly on your face, making them a bit of a waste of money. So you need to find ways to protect them when they are on your head, but even more importantly when they are not on your head, so they are not under your control, and they can drop on the floor, be trampled on, scratched, broken, anything could happen.

When you buy some sunglasses you can sometimes get sunglasses cases for free. In fact, if you don’t get the sunglasses cases thrown in with the glasses, you should ask some serious questions of the retailer. If you buy the cheaper sunglasses, then you are more likely to get a cloth sunglasses case. Now, these cases DO serve a purpose, in that they can protect your sunglasses a little bit from scratching of the lenses. BUT they do not offer enough protection to truly take care of your sunglasses. If your sunglasses are in a cloth case then they can be severely damaged if they are stepped on, even if you put something down on top of them.

Another type of sunglasses case is the plastic one. These can be all kinds of shapes and sizes and can offer some really good protection for your sunglasses, especially the harder types of plastic. Sometimes, they can be part of the fashion of the sunglasses too. Plastic sunglasses cases are useful because unlike metal sunglasses cases they can be flexible and “bounce back” when impacted (metal cases when dented tend to stay dented). Our advice is to get the strongest case possible, your sunglasses will thank you!
