The traditional imperial system used in the UK was, until recently being replaced by the metric system. A recent climb down by the EU to enforce the UK to become only metric has resulted in the supermarkets giving the price per weight in both metric and imperial systems.

These tables can help those who still use the imperial system to convert metric to imperial and vice versa. If using a calculator to convert a weight given in kilograms to find out the weight in pounds, enter the weight in kilograms into the calculator and multiply by 2.205 (ie the weight given in the imperial column).
