Etnies shoes are synonymous with action and adventure. The company sponsors a range of extreme sports, from the world of BMX and motocross, to snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding.
The company’s origins are rooted in the skateboarding culture and its parent company, Sole Technology, continues to target this niche with other brand names like Emerica and éS Footwear. The Etnies brand, however, has taken on a much broader and commercial appeal and we love it!
There is now a huge range of shoes for men, women and children, and you don’t even have to set foot on a skateboard to wear them! There’s also a great clothing wear range, which looks equally fab whether you’re tackling a half-pipe, or just doing your weekly grocery shop.
Contrary to popular belief, the Etnies brand was born in France, not America, and actually began life under the name of ‘Etnics’. The label was changed to its current name back in 1989 due to legal issues.
And (at the risk of randomly sounding like a rubbish imitation of Michael Caine) … not a lot of people know that!
