Sky blue has always been the most fashionable colour of all times, so if you want to be modern buy a pair of turquoise earrings and you cannot go wrong. In earlier times Turquoise was set to bring wealth and was protecting the wearer against dark and evil powers. The best quality turquoises are found in North America. The quality depends on the imperfections that we can find in the stone. They occur as brown or light grey lines in the middle of the stone and these defaults are called the spider web. They are almost invisible at bare eye. They obviously decrease the value of the gem.

Turquoises are quite soft and very fragile so today most jewelleries give the best quality stone a wax treatment in order to harden the stone. However, the buyer has to be careful as some jewellerers give the stone a coloured treatment which embellishes the gem but decrease considerably its value. They also create some "fake" stones by putting together "smashed" turquoises.

Once you have purchased you pair of turquoise earrings, you will feel beautiful and relaxed by the colour of the gem and you will not probably want to take them off. However avoid wearing turquoise while practising sport, doing hard work or sunbathing. If you need to clean the precious stone, just use a soft cloth and take them off at night and wrap them up separately in their original velvet pouch.
