Giorgio Armani launched one of his very first perfumes in the early eighties, Giorgio. This sharp and floral perfume was created at the same time that the designer opened his first series of stores selling some of his less expensively priced lines, including Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani. Giorgio is one of the many exciting fragrances to come from the House of Armani perfume collection. It is made up of a feminine and floral blend of rose, carnation, orris and sandal wood, combined with hints of jasmine and musk. Bursts of orange blossom, ylang ylang and bergamot give this feminine scent its intense aroma.

Over the years, Armani has created many other popular perfumes. In 1992, the design house launched the luxurious scent, Gio - an aromatic, fruity and floral perfume. This warm and romantic scent possesses a blend of rose, jasmine, gardenia and mandarin combined with undertones of vanilla, peach and amber. Soon after its launch, Armani introduced the sequel perfume Aqua de Gio. This has a clean, outdoor aroma thanks to the blend of transparent flowers that have been used to create it, giving it a fresh, ‘ocean breeze’ fragrance.

Emporio Armani perfume was launched onto the market in 1998. Designed for the Emporio Armani perfume range, this delicate oriental fragrance has a magical blend of angelica and Indian cardamom with hints of mandarin and bergamot. Other ingredients used to give this scent its relaxing but sensual aroma are heliotrope, vanilla, cedar, jasmine and musk. The popular Mania fragrance was released two years later.

Giorgio Armani, born in 1934, is one of the most famous and influential fashion designers to come out of Italy. Armani is probably best known for his input into the fashion industry, and it was this extensive knowledge of design and fabric that enabled him to work as a designer for some of the most famous fashion companies, and gained him the reputation that he enjoys today. In 1974, this talented designer put his own name to the world of menswear and created the Giorgio Armani label.

Since 1975, Armani has launched many other high quality lines such as perfume, underwear, swimwear and accessories. He now divides his time between his various homes; three in Italy and one on the French Riviera.
