Seek a wedding photographer online - UK - USA
You may have thought that all wedding photographs are similar, but that is definitely not the case. Before you can hire a UK photographer, you will need to consider the different styles of wedding photography available. You can then pick a photographer who is best able to meet your needs.
Although they are less trendy nowadays, the traditional wedding photos are still beautiful and classic. These are the standard posed shots, and the list of required poses is well known: bride and groom alone, bride and groom with each set of parents and so on. There will be photos taken at both the ceremony (such as signing the register), as well as at the reception (cutting the cake). The majority of the posed photos will be taken whilst the guests arrive at the reception and have a couple of drinks, however there are the less formal shots which take place later. These aim to look candid, but are sometimes a little cheesy. Think of tossing the bouquet, feeding each other wedding cake or anxiously checking watches! However, a good photographer can lift this tired format in to something special.
Many couples are shunning the traditional pictures in preference for candid photography, or even photojournalism. These kinds of photos are not posed, but the photographer catches people in certain moments. Excellent examples may include the groom taking his first peek up the aisle at his bride, or the grandparents nodding off during the speeches! Be aware that the photographer will need a lot of film, as some pictures will be unflattering or will not have caught the moment. Some photographs may seem very ordinary, whereas others will reflect the mood of the day perfectly. Suppliers who specialise in photojournalism should be able to fade into the background so the subjects are unaware that they are being photographed.
The other option you have in choosing which kind of wedding photographs is colour vs. black and white. Black and white photography is becoming very fashionable again, and most couples want to include some of these shots on their wedding day. They have the ability to look very artistic, and do not fade over time. However, colour photographs are able to capture your colour scheme, and the full effect of people’s attire. A combination of both kinds is preferable if your budget will allow.
Finally, consider whether you would like digital photography. The advantage of this is that you can easily post your photographs on a website, or email them to friends and family. However, some digital cameras have limited numbers of pixels, which means you may not be able to enlarge your photographs without compromising on picture quality.
