Book your wedding in Hawaii - UK - USA
The Hawaiian group of islands is the most isolated on earth, with its nearest neighbour over two thousand miles away. Travelling to Hawaii is fairly time consuming — six hours from Los Angeles, ten hours from New York, and over sixteen hours from London! A Hawaiian wedding package undoubtedly must be well planned. Despite this, Hawaii is an extremely popular location for weddings and honeymoons, and for good reason, too...
The most obvious benefit of having your wedding in Hawaii is the weather. Temperatures are between 21 — 27 degrees Celsius (70 — 80 degrees Fahrenheit) all year round. Although tropical showers are common between November and March, if you avoid the northeastern valleys and the mountains you should have nothing to worry about.
As for the location of your Hawaii wedding, the amazing choice of islands on offer means that you can pick the one that most suits your personality or wedding style. The island of Hawaii is also known as ‘The Big Island’ to avoid confusion. This is the place for seeing lava and enjoying the enormous variety in climatic zones from the snow-capped mountains to the tropical beaches.
Maui is often considered the most romantic of the islands due to its plethora of luxury hotels and superior beaches. Oahu is home of the largest Hawaiian city, Honolulu, and the infamous Waikiki Beach. Oahu is a good choice if you have many guests flying out as it has the largest airport and the most direct flights. Lanai is small and exclusive — known as ‘ Pineapple Island’, this is where Bill Gates famously tied the knot. Kauai provided the filming location for Jurassic Park, and is a slow-paced island for people who love outdoor activities. Last but not least is ‘The Friendly Island’, Molokai. With focus on the cultural and ecological, Molokai is less populated by large hotel chains. One things is for sure, all the islands are fantastic, and it is impossible to go wrong - whichever one you select.
Having your wedding in Hawaii is relatively easy to organise, and there are many consultants and planners available to assist you. Obtaining a wedding licence is simple — you appear at the marriage licence office, and they issue your licence, which is then valid for thirty days. No blood tests are necessary, and they put the marriage certificate in the post to your home address.
Hawaiian culture is one of the most inclusive and friendly in the world. Elements of this culture can be included in your wedding to wonderful effect. Exchanging leis, the famous flower garlands, represents love and respect. It’s usual for every guest to also wear leis. Blowing a conch shell is said to summon the ancient gods, and providing an Hawaiian feast — a luau — is always accompanied by music and dancing.
