Women's Car Insurance - Compare women's car insurance quotes from over 100 companies. No, car insurance laws are not different in Wales. Not only that, but when comparisons are made across the UK, England and Wales are almost always lumped together in one group. However, car insurance in Wales has become more established on the car insurance map by two companies, both of which actually operate in the same group of offices in Cardiff, South Wales.
Admiral car insurance services actually own Diamond car insurance, although they are two separate companies. Both have them have shaken up the car insurance market in the whole of the UK, by using innovative marketing and product ideas to gain the attention of the public in a very competitive market.
Admiral became the first car insurance company to introduce the 'bonus accelerator' scheme, where a no claims bonus can be built up over ten months, instead of 12 months. This means that you get an insurance policy for 10 months instead of 12 and should you not claim during those 10 months you get 1 year on your no claims bonus. This means that in 6 years you build up 7 years no claims bonus, but perhaps more importantly, since no claims protection starts at 4 years, it only takes 3 and a half years to get 4 years no claims history.
Furthermore, Admiral boasted that they offered cheaper car insurance premiums than many of their competitors. This is a boast made by many of the companies in the market, but what Admiral probably did succeed in doing was to make sure people at least tried them out to see what their premium might be. However, it should be noted that the fact that each year your policy was only for 10 months means that it would be easy to think you're getting cheaper premiums when in fact you are only getting 10 months cover. Multiply your quote by 1.2 to compare with other quotes.
Diamond's marketing strategy was to target women only. Their line was that if you are a woman and you are taking out insurance with a company that also covers men, then you are paying to insure the men, who statistically claim more than you do. Diamond insist that since only women are insured by them, you as a woman will get a cheaper premium. Diamond also offers the bonus accelerator scheme.
Diamond hit the headlines when they were the subject of a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for an advert they had used where they insisted that women are better drivers than men. The ASA ruled that the advert was fair, as statistics showed that women make fewer and smaller claims. In addition, competitors' websites showed that quotes for the same cover was cheaper for a woman than for men.
