Preventing wrinkles is most definitely a more effective, easier and cheaper option that curing wrinkles, and the earlier you start trying to prevent the appearance of wrinkles, the better.
One of the best ways to prevent wrinkles is to start to properly care for your skin from an early age. That means cleansing, toning and moisturising the face and neck every morning and every night from your teenage years right the way through to old age.
By putting into place a good skin care routine, you'll be helping your skin stay wrinkle free for longer, however much sun or pollution you expose it to.
A few top tips for your new wrinkle free skin care plan
1. Drink plenty of water - even young skin will suffer without plenty of fluids to keep it hydrated. Aim for at least eight glasses a day.
2. Cleanse your skin, but don't 'over-cleanse'. This is especially true in the morning when you should only have build-up a small amount of oil on the face after the previous night's cleansing. Make sure you use a light cleanser that will not 'strip' the skin with harsh cleansing acids.
3. Only use a facial toner if your skin tends to break out into spots on a regular basis. Toning is great for removing excess dirt after cleansing, but it can also strip your skin of oils which, if you are prone to dry skin, can be bad news for your wrinkle prevention skin care routine.
4. Wear a moisturiser that contains UV filters - this will help protect your skin against the sun's harmful wrinkle-causing rays. Sun screen should be worn every day, and the stronger the sun's intensity is, the higher the UV protection should be.
5. Lastly - stop frowning! Frowning makes the facial muscles work much harder than smiling does, and overuse of these muscles can lead to wrinkle development and deep, static lines.
