If left untreated, sleep apnoea may eventually result in any one of the following disorders or medical conditions:

•  Elevated blood pressure and hypertension.

•  Cognitive dysfunction and psychological disorders.

•  Diabetes

•  Arterial blockages

•  Cardiovascular disease

•  Seizures

•  Strokes

It is therefore vital that upon experiencing any one of the known symptoms, individuals promptly visit their physicians so as to catch the condition in its early stages. They will then more than likely need to undergo a series of tests including an electrocardiogram and a polysomnogram, or sleep analysis so as to determine which type of apnoea they are suffering from as well as any complications that may have resulted from the condition. A type of treatment, or possibly surgery will then be recommended.
