One area where the high street is likely to remain more attractive to consumers than the Internet (and for some time to come) is service. It's often easy to confuse ‘the best price' with ‘the best deal', but for many customers the level of aftercare and the ability to put any questions directly to an eye-care specialist are as important as the product itself.

It's also worth bearing in mind that most high street branded products are supplied by one of a handful of major manufactures and simply repackaged - at an additional cost.
