Surgery to get rid of cellulite should only be considered as a last resort. Why take the risk when you can achieve the same results from a safer method? Surgery is also the most expensive treatment available.

Liposuction

Liposuction is the most commonly performed aesthetic surgical procedure for body contouring. It involves extracting fat by vacuuming it from under the skin. Liposuction is exceptionally good at removing inches and slimming down hips, thighs and buttocks but it doesn’t deal with the damaged septa in the area so it doesn’t actually get rid of cellulite. Liposuction can also hinder the body’s natural circulation and waste elimination processes while the body heals.

This is quite a complicated procedure for a relatively minor problem and would only be recommended for someone with extensive cellulite, accompanied by fat pads on the hips and loose skin. It involves lifting the skin of the whole lower body like a facelift in that region.

In this treatment, an analysis is made to determine what might be causing the cellulite and doses of remedies for that cause are injected just under the skin. For example, if poor circulation is a problem a circulation boosting treatment is used. Some patients can receive a cocktail of remedies using mainly natural products. It is recommended to receive treatments once or twice weekly over four to eight weeks. Some practitioners claim to be able to reduce cellulite by 40 – 50 per cent over three to four treatments. If you wish to undergo this treatment make sure it is carried out by someone who has medical training.
