Buying wholesale aromatherapy products is an excellent alternative to purchasing your goods from a retailer. If you are eligible to buy goods in this way it can save you a lot of money without having to compromise on quality.

What does wholesale mean?

It usually means that the goods are sold to the customer directly from the manufacturer, at a reduced price, usually in large quantities.

Are wholesale goods available to everyone?

No, you are usually required to show proof that you are a reseller, manufacturer or are employed in the aromatherapy industry, for example, a licensed chiropractor, aromatherapist, health practitioner or massage therapist.

How do I prove that I am a reseller?

You will probably be asked for your tax identification number or a tax resale number. This will prove your status as a reseller.

I don’t have a tax resale number – what can I do?

For US citizens who reside in Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon a tax sales number is not required as there is no sales tax in these three states, and you should instead use your business registration number if you have one. If you reside in any other part of the US or in another part of the world you should contact the State Department of Taxation or your local taxation office.

Will I be able to choose items from a catalog?

Yes, most aromatherapy wholesalers provide genuine customers with a complete catalog of their product range. They may also offer an online facility where items can be viewed online, either as a regular website or as a downloadable document, such as a PDF.

Will they send me samples before I buy in bulk?

They might do, especially if you intend to become a regular buyer. Obviously this is completely down to the wholesaler’s own policy, so contact the sales team and enquire whether this can be arranged.

Is it possible to buy wholesale aromatherapy products online?

Some wholesalers will offer this facility, whilst some will require you to order goods in person, in writing or over the telephone.

Is it safe to buy online?

Yes, provided that the wholesaler’s website is secure. This means that your personal information and credit card details are protected. Always check with the company if you are in any doubt about their online security.
