Eating sugar and refined carbohydrates (white bread, pasta, flour and rice) leads to an increase in insulin which then results in an excess of male hormones which stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce an excess of sebum. To combat this, try to increase your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables. If you need to snack between meals try eating nuts and seeds.
Caffeinated drinks – Caffeine increases the levels of stress hormones in the body which can aggravate acne, so try to avoid coffee, tea, energy drinks and hot chocolate.
