Phone psychics give general psychic readings over the telephone, or give advice on specific issues such as love or money. Phone psychics in the UK can be mediums, who can pass on messages from the dead, clairvoyants who see current and future events, or healers who can heal remotely.

Different psychics work in different ways, but tarot cards are particularly popular. One advantage is that it is not hard to learn how to use them, so for someone who has never worked as a psychic before it is easy to get started in this line of work. Some phone psychics deal with particular issues, one of the most common reasons that people call psychic phone lines is due to relationship problems. Others can be money, or stress at work or home.

Good phone psychics need to have a clear, speaking voice and to be welcoming. They also need to be easy to talk to, a good listener and sympathetic. Often people phone them because they need someone to talk to, or they need reassurance and advice. Being a telephone psychic is similar to being a counsellor or therapist except that they are also required to give advice, hence the attraction.

Although psychic phone lines tend to be quite expensive (usually around £1.50 per minute) the psychics themselves are quite poorly paid. If thinking of becoming a phone psychic, check out the contract very carefully. Some companies only pay you for calls over a certain length, for instance only calls over twenty minutes long will earn you some money. They may also only pay you if you have been on calls for a certain amount of hours per week. So just being logged onto the network doesn't count, only hours when you are actually speaking to a caller are paid for.

Also be aware that some callers are desperate, confused, frightened people who need to be handled with sensitivity. People who are suicidal or mentally unstable should be directed to help lines.
