To talk to a psychic live you need to go through a webcam, a UK chat room, or on the phone. Webcam technology allows the psychic reading to be videoed, and the data transmitted live online over the Internet. The images can be slightly disjointed, and not nearly as clear as pre-recorded video, but can give someone live, visual access to a live psychic which may be preferable to the other two methods which do not allow you to see the person who is giving you a reading. Webcam technology is continuing to develop in the hope that when processing speeds increase and techniques for compressing large files improve, the quality of webcam transmissions will be the same as video.

Telephone readings are usually charged per minute. Check the rate before you call up and make sure you know what to expect from the person on the other end of the phone. Check out the company offering phone line psychic readings carefully, as there is scope for scams; some will try and keep you on the phone as long as possible to run up a large bill, without actually giving you real psychic advice. Telephone lines usually have the disclaimer that they are for entertainment purposes only. Bear this mind when referring to a psychic in this way. Find out if you can get a recording of the call on CD or tape. Some companies will allow you to call up on a free number and prebook the phone reading; this allows you to ask questions about the psychic reader, how they work and ask for one suitable for your needs, and also to set a time after which the call will be terminated.
