No matter where you live you should have no problem finding coin shows held throughout the year in your area. Coin show events, normally held over the course of a weekend, give coin dealers an opportunity to rent tables within their show to buy, sell and trade with visitors and other dealers.

Many coin shows are held within a hotel or convention centers and charge a small admission fee for entry. These types of shows are an excellent chance to inspect coins you may be interested in, discuss coins with other collectors and dealers, and learn more about the world of numismatics. What do I need to know about coin shows?

• You may be infringing business laws at a coin show if you conduct business with someone who does not have an official table. The easiest way to trade amongst collectors in through a coin club.
  
  
• Conduct your business the same way you would when buying or selling anything: inquire with several dealers about pricing options and deals.
  
  
• Some dealers will specifically deal in the sort of coins you have. It’s probably better to trade with dealers who are knowledgeable in a particular area of expertise.
  
  
• The American Numismatic Association has an annual National Money Show which has been held since 1891. The ANA show is hosted by one club or society each year, and the calendar is organized a couple of years in advance.
  
  
• Coin shows are often sponsored by a club or commercial coin show promoter.
