Clairvoyance - receiving a psychic clairvoyant reading

Clairvoyance is a form of psychic ability. Literally, it means the ability to see clearly (clair from French), so a clairvoyant can often see things that most people can't. It is the ability to look beyond the everyday world and see far away people or events, or can include reading into the future, known as precognition. Clairvoyance can be defined as acute intuitive insight or perceptiveness and being able to see things outside the normal range of human perception. Experiences such as being able to describe a house you have never been to, or having a premonition that you are going to have a car accident before you start your journey are examples of clairvoyance. This information is perceived as images or pictures - some people can visualise things clearly, for instance some people have very vivid dreams in colour, while others don't see mental pictures as clearly. Clairvoyance is also known as second sight.

Note: clairvoyance is different from telepathy – the art of reading someone's mind. Clairvoyance involves perceiving events directly, rather than through the mind of someone else.

Experiments to prove or disprove clairvoyance can involve guessing which card is going to be drawn next from a pack. The person drawing the card must not look at the card until the tester has recorded their guess; this is to exclude the possibility of telepathy. Another form of clairvoyance is remote viewing, ie being able to see what is happening currently in another location, or describe somewhere you have never been to. Remote viewing is relatively easy to test. The subjects and the researcher synchronize watches. The researcher goes out and visits a target location which is unknown to the subject while the subject describes the site at the preagreed time for each visit. The time is important to rule out the possibility of predicting future events, rather than perceiving current events. This ability is associated with the third eye or sixth chakra.

Some clairvoyants practice divination, the art of perceiving the future, for instance, by reading images in tea leaves or from a crystal ball. Some clairvoyants use tarot cards to give intuitive readings. Whatever method the clairvoyant uses, information about the person seeking advice should come in the form of images which the clairvoyant interprets.
